Frequently asked questions
How much do I need for the Spain digital nomad visa in 2026?
200% of the Spanish minimum wage (SMI), which is EUR 2,849 a month in 2026. Add 75% of the SMI for a partner and 25% for each further family member. Most of your work must be for clients or employers outside Spain.
How much do I need for the Portugal D8 visa?
An average of at least four times the Portuguese minimum wage over the last 3 months, which is EUR 3,680 a month in 2026.
How much do I need for the Greece digital nomad visa?
At least EUR 3,500 a month after tax, plus 20% for a spouse and 15% for each child. This figure comes from an independent summary of the law, so confirm with the Greek consulate.
Is it gross or net income?
Greece states a net (after-tax) figure. The Spanish and Portuguese rules we found do not say gross or net, so consulates judge it from your contracts, invoices, payslips and bank statements. If you are close to the line, ask the consulate which they use.
Will I pay tax in that country?
Probably, if you stay long enough to become tax resident there, usually after 183 days in a year. Some countries have special regimes for new residents. Get tax advice before you move.
